Pimsleur Miles Pay Off

Dr. P. helps me win a trophy!

Today, for only the second time in my life, I won a road race: the Arthritis Foundation’s Jingle Bell Run/Walk in Prospect Park.

Thank You, Dr. Pimsleur!

Yeah, it was a really small race. Yeah, it was held the same day as the Joe Kleinerman 10K in Central Park, which siphoned off the competitive runners from the area. And yeah, the times were super slow.

Nonetheless, it was really something to be out in front, and my time was much better than anything I have run recently for that distance, so I am relishing my trophy.

Now, I know road races are technically unrelated to the subject of this blog—languages—but I think my enthusiasm for the latter is helping with the former. All those Pimsleur and VocabuLearn miles I have logged are really starting to pay off, and besides, I just feel excited pretty much all the time. When I am happier, I run more. When I run more, I am happier.

To celebrate, I went home and did a bunch of Italian grammar through the afternoon and into the night.

It was a good day.

Wow, the first sentence of this entry made a big hit with me since I recently was told that I have severe and potentially crippling arthritis! Thanks for running for the arthritic, Ellen!
