Pronunciation Injuries

I hurt myself pronouncing things.

For almost a year and a half of running now, my hamstrings have been very tight. I need to get that worked out before I really hurt myself, so this week I stretched a lot while simultaneously doing Pimsleur.

Doing something useful at the same time I stretch greatly increases the chances that I don’t cut short my stretching time. And at the same time I learn a lot more Arabic! Sometimes multitasking is a great thing.

Running is not the only thing causing me physical problems.

My throat and neck and vocal cords hurt from the strain of trying to pronounce the Arabic sounds associated with the letters ghayn, ayn, and that one that sounds like the French r.

I tried to massage the area using our massage chair, but that requires a truly awkward position.

I finally gave up.
