Central Park draws international visitors year round, but if you really want to hear other languages, walk around here during the three non-freezing seasons: spring, summer, and fall.

Summer especially is crazy with tourists. You can hear dozens of languages. I can’t actually recognize dozens of languages, but they are there if you can!

And, if you look as though you know where you’re going, people from other parts of the world will ask you directions to places such as—this is the biggie—Strawberry Fields, dedicated to the memory of John Lennon. The second most common place I get asked directions to is Bethesda Fountain, featured in many films and just a great all-around summer hangout on the edge of The Lake (yes, I know, that is not the most distinctive name ever for a body of water).

It makes me happy to roam through Central Park and hear so many languages. It’s not just a New York park—it’s a park of the world!
