As an example of what’s out there: in New York in early March 2013, there were 902 “language enthusiasts” connected to a group called “New York City Korean Language Exchange Meetup.”

The description read: “This group is about learning and interacting with the Korean language and culture. We also are about helping Koreans who recently came to America learn or practice English by language exchange. The goal is to help one another no matter what cultural background.”

 While there are generally more language-themed Meetups in major urban areas, you never know, so check the Meetup map!
