Located in the New York State Library in Albany, the New Netherland Institute is the home of the New Netherland Project, run for decades by scholar Dr. Charles Gehring.
The purpose of the New Netherland Project is to “complete the transcription, translation, and publication of all Dutch documents in New York repositories relating to the seventeenth-century colony of New Netherland.”
There is a reading room where scholars and non-scholars alike can examine the library’s New Netherland holdings. Or you can access Dutch stuff electronically, through the online store, which sells books about New Netherland and other Dutch-themed products.
