Grammar Addiction
Past conditional, compound reflexives, subjunctive, and other indulgences.
I woke up late today, because we had a party last night. I love planning and having parties again. For a long time, I didn’t.
Once awake, I did hours of grammar work, still in my same verb book. Thirty pages of drills in past conditional, compound reflexive verbs, subjunctive, etc. Those things are addictive.
Anyway, I did quite well. I am actually remembering some of the forms pretty consistently now; after all, this is about the third or fourth time I have gone through them in my various books. In most cases, it would be too much for me to conjure them up fluently in a conversation, but still, in the calm quiet of a grammar exercise, I can remember quite a bit. After less than three months, it could be a lot worse.
The uses of subjunctive in Italian seem to be virtually identical to Spanish—is that true?
