Greenpoint’s public library is full of Polish books.
When I visited in 2011, I met librarian Izabela Barry, who is originally from Poland and who had at that time been at the library for nine years. During her tenure she had been working to increase the Polish-language section. And succeeded, it appeared.
Izabela told me that in Brooklyn, demand for Polish reading materials is significant. Only English, Spanish, Chinese, and Russian (not sure of the order) exceed Polish in terms of book needs.
The library holds English classes, one of which I attended. I believe everyone, or almost everyone, was a native Polish speaker. They were perplexed by certain features of English, a perplexity I share about Polish.
If you are looking for Polish books, for kids or adults, this is a wonderful free resource.
