Not long ago there was a Brooklyn branch of this place, too, but it appears to have closed, leaving just the Manhattan location, which is large and cool and has a German menu of eats.
Besides a selection of German beers, you can order things like Aufschnitteller mit verschiedenen Würsten, Käse, und Brot (cold-cut platter with a variety of cold cuts, cheese, and bread).
I don’t remember hearing German the one night I was there (I’m not a bar person), but I was with a whole bunch of Americans, so it wasn’t really conducive to German-language-snippet snooping.
However, for people who are missing the German beer-garden culture, this is a pleasant destination!
