I think years ago I might actually have been a member of this organization, but I can’t remember for sure.

In any case, they have a lovely mission statement: “The Council promotes the development of literacy, the use of language to construct personal and public worlds and to achieve full participation in society, through the learning and teaching of English and the related arts and sciences of language.”

I just wish more people grasped the value of this philosophy. Being given a solid understanding of language is like being handed the keys to the world.
