This sprawling Brooklyn store in Sunset Park’s Chinatown has a remarkable array of produce.

When I visited New York Mart in late 2012, I did not look at the meat or fish, though those sections were crowded with customers, but I can tell you the vegetables and fruit looked great, and they were super cheap. So were staples such as grains.

I was the only non-Asian person I saw in the store, and it was a highly enjoyable food-browsing experience. While I confess I did not actually buy food and eat it, I still gave New York Mart a five-star rating based on the variety of food, the way it looked, the low prices, and the huge amount of Chinese that can be heard here.
