Yeah, you could go to a Meetup group for Spanish. Alternatively, in various parts of the country, you could simply walk outside your building or down the block. Spanish is so common in New York that I guess I personally don’t feel motivated to seek out a Meetup group.

But a meeting concentrated on the Spanish language could be helpful, even in Spanish-dense places. Walking up to random people and trying to speak Spanish with them doesn’t always go over so well.

So, if you are curious, go to the far right of this Meetup page and enter your zip code to see whether Spanish Meetup groups meet near you. As of early 2013, 59 different groups showed up for New York. (Not to show off or anything.)

A caveat: some language Meetup groups are more social than linguistic in nature.
