Some people are partial to electronic gadgets for their vocabulary-building needs, but in my mind there is nothing like good old-fashioned flashcards. SparkNotes offers great ones in several languages.

Or rather, offered. While in the process of writing this review, I learned that they are now out of print and SparkNotes has stopped supporting them.

Although you can sometimes still find their German vocabulary cards on various sites across the web, the prices have on occasion reached lofty heights—despite their humble initial retail price of $9.95. Ah, the laws of supply and demand…

I am still on the lookout for cards I like as much as I like these. An alternative in the meantime comes from BarCharts, whose German flashcard product I review here.
